Photographer Rachel Papo, (who was Serial No. 3817131 when she served in the Israeli Air Force from 1988-1990), reveals through poignant photographs Israeli girls caught in transient moments of self-reflection and uncertainity while serving in the Israeli Defense Force.

Rather than portraying the soldier as heroic, confident, or proud, Papo's photographs revel the solider and the teenage girl in constant negotiation, caught between two extremes: a soldier living on an army base surrounded by hundreds just like her, and as an individual underneath her uniform, wishing to be noticed.
